ASL Class
So I just finished my first ASL class session of the semester. It was really fun actually. My teacher is Deaf and he I liked him a lot. He is supposedly a very difficult teacher though. I'm actually very happy about that. He said that he hands out about 5 A's a semester. Most people get C's in his class and it's only the very hardworking that get better. So my plan is to work very hard! I need to have four textbooks for the class. I was so suprised when I found this out. I thought that classes usually only required one textbook, but I guess when you take such high-level classes like I do, you need those extra 3 books. (I'm totally joking here and hoping that it will translate through text.) All in all I am very excited. And luckily, I have a good friend that also knows ASL (but since I haven't actually gotten permission to talk about this person on here yes, they will remain nameless!) and I am hoping that they will practice with me and maybe even go with me to a Deaf event or two. Because I personally think it would be way more fun to go with someone than by yourself. Anyway, more as it comes along. Tomorrow is Youth Conference so I will probably be giving you an update then.

Introduction
So this post will just be an introduction into my life for those of you who aren't too sure about the details. Let's start with the basics. I'm 17 years old and I just graduated high school. I'm now starting at a community college where I will be majoring in ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreting. I have a passion for ASL and am so happy that I found it. (Thank you Sister Scalercio!). ASL is very, very progressive however so I'm also going to be studying a whole bunch of other things right along with it. I have a whole spread of classes I want to take and I am very excited. I'm going to need to wait a while though because I am taking a very intense class right now called Thomas Jefferson Youth Certification (or TJYC for short). It really is a great accomplishment if you certify. I wish my parents would understand that. Probably when they see me working the minimum 20 hours a week at it they will.
I have been very busy lately. Touring the country and such. It feels great to be settled. I can relax now. Vacation is a lot of hard work. I don't plan to take one for a while. I will just stay home, fall into a routine, and keep my room clean! I love having a clean room. Oh, I'm getting a kitten in about a month and a half. I am SO excited. I have wanted a cat for quite a while now. My ASL class starts tomorrow. And that's where I'm at. So, I'll post again soon, when something interesting happens probably.
